These life lessons are important nuggets of wisdom that are kind, caring and really make a difference.
1. DO NOT mistake kindness for weakness, it is a great STRENGTH. Sometimes it takes great courage to be kind rather than retaliate to someones nastiness – we must realise, they are reacting to their unhappiness.
2. Treat yourself as you would like to be treated. Sometimes, we are our worst critic.
3. Learn when to be silent and when to listen. We need to be heard – its akin to feeling relevant.
4. Spend time in nature as often as possible. It is a scientific fact that being in nature reduces stress and increases endorphins, reduces blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, production of stress hormones and inflammation. Being in nature also relieves depression and anxiety. The more often the better as being in nature has a cumulative effect.
5. Doing your best won’t always be enough. Know that you can’t change that – move on.
6. Shedding the excess kilos is different for everyone. Listen to your body. Aspire to feel better rather than watching the numbers on the scales.
7. Contrast is a good thing. If you have never been sad, you won’t know how happy feels. Having difficult times makes you appreciate the good.
8. Surround yourself with good people and people you actually like. The phrase ‘keep your friends close and your enemies closer” has never sat well with me. it is ingenuine and inauthentic. Do you really want to be tarred with the same brush as your enemies?
9. What you put out whether it be good or bad thoughts, kindness, hostility, anger, love, it will come back to you so many more times over. Call it karma – I call it truth.
